Sir Gary Streeter (Cons) M.P. came to do a Q&A with pupils at Hele’s School, Plymouth, from year 7-13. The pupils asked searching questions ranging from the NHS, asylum seekers, defence spending, to the conflict in Gaza and human rights.

Pen pal exchange with pupils from a Spanish school
Year 11 pupils at Hele’s School who are taking Spanish as an extra GCSE swapped pen pal letters with pupils form a school in Spain. Holocaust Memorial Day Through Literature
Alice, one of Hele’s School’s Junior Ambassadors created a display for the library which linked Holocaust Memorial Day to literature about the Holocaust and other genocides.

Tutor time quiz on different European traditions
Hele’s School’s Junior Ambassadors created a 30 min quiz which tutees completed in teams, about the different Christmas traditions in European countries.

Education and debate about the EU
Asher came from the European Parliament Liaison Office to talk to 6th formers at Hele’s School about the history, values, and processes of the EU. He then facilitated a debate regarding the EU and democracy. Read more about this on social media

Christmas cards for refugees
One of Hele’s School’s Junior Ambassadors, Cecylia, initiated this in tutor groups throughout the school. Pupils wrote a short message to a refugee/asylum seeker to let them know someone was thinking of them. They were then delivered to the Devon and Cornwall Refugee Centre.

Hele’s School Debating course
Hele’s School in Plymouth ran a six week debating course. Junior Ambassadors from the sixth form helped KS3 pupils through the course which culminated in a debate on ‘This House would abolish the monarchy’. The proposition won the debate.
