Caroline Voaden, former Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for the South West England and Gibraltar constituency, visited Queen Elizabeth School in Crediton, Devon, to award a plaque and certificates to the school and its Ambassadors for successfully completing their first year as a European Parliament Ambassador School.
Junior Ambassadors from the school explained why they had got involved in the scheme and what they had got out of it. For Theo, it was an interest in politics and a chance to deepen his understanding of European issues. Jo’s route was through design: Jo came up with the logo and branding for QE’s Ambassador Schools team. Despite not initially having thought much about whether to get involved in the scheme, Jo was persuaded by a friend and has become an enthusiastic member of the team. Both Jo and Theo spoke passionately about what they have got out of it: a sense of ownership, accomplishment, and confidence. Theo even used the opportunity to ask Caroline Voaden’s advice on getting into politics, and ended up volunteering to help her campaign!
