Launch session and debate: “What should the priorities be for the EU and UK’s future relationship?”

On Wednesday 13th December Clyst Vale Community College were delighted to welcome Asher Jacobsberg from the European Parliament Liaison Office to Post 16. He had come to launch the European Parliament Ambassador Schools (EPAS) project, which Clyst Vale have recently joined – and to lead a debate (emulating the European Parliament style) on what the priorities should be for the EU and UK’s future relationship.

34 students from Years 13, 12 and 11 joined the session. In the first half, students learned about how the European Parliament is constituted and how it works – and came to appreciate some of the political workings of this complex system.
After lunch, Asher guided the students in their specific group (groups in the European Parliament are made up of political parties from countries across the EU) roles and viewpoints in a debate, which the students approached with great maturity and enthusiasm.

We had a brilliant afternoon and look forward to future activities in connection with Clyst Vale’s role as an Ambassador School!
