Just before the Christmas break, one of our amazing Ambassador Schools, Instituto Español Vicente Cañada Blanch, hosted a wonderful day of learning, dialogue, and celebration for their Junior Ambassadors and Ambassadors from two other Ambassador Schools: The Cherwell School and Emerson Park Academy.
We had, as guest of honour, Thijs Reuten, Member of the European Parliament (MEP). He was in London to meet with UK Parliamentarians as part of the EU/UK Parliamentary Partnership Assembly. He was eager to meet with UK Ambassador Schools, and was more than happy to award certificates and plaques to last year’s Senior and Junior Ambassadors.
Students asked Mr Reuten about his path to becoming an MEP, the greatest challenges he has faced as an MEP, and the future of the EU. He engaged with each of the questions, and praising the young participants for their engagement, and urged them to stay engaged, fighting for what they believe in, and hold politicians to account to shape the UK, Europe and the world in a way that works for them.
