Oaklea Grange had visits and workshops from their local Member of the Senedd (MS/AS). They took part in a vote and learnt all about which laws are devolved and what they can vote on in Wales. They debated issues that matter to their school and young people. They discussed how to become an MS and how to contact them when issues arise.
On the next visit they were visited by their local Member of Parliament (MP). They discussed the role of Parliament and how this works between the two Houses. They looked at routes into Parliament and how to become an MP. They discussed the voting history of their MP and the things he is most proud of achieving and how a law is passed. They looked at voting age and political parties and how get get into politics. They discussed recent votes such as Brexit and the merits of a democratic society. They looked at how there could be more support and funding in certain areas and looked at how we can petition for this to happen.
