International Debating Successes of Dulwich College Junior Ambassador Louie Sinclair

Recently, our Junior Ambassador, Louie Sinclair, has had many successes in competitive debating. Louie debates for England and represented the country at the European Championships in North Macedonia, ranking as the 7th best speaker in Europe. This was a great opportunity to network with the greatest U18 speakers in Europe and discuss current affairs. At the international Oxford school’s finals day, Louie progressed to the Grand Finals where he debated Singaporean national team speakers on motions ranging from Cordon Sanitaire systems in European democracies to social justice.

Most recently, Louie attended the Durham schools debate competition, ranking as the 1st team out of 70 progressing to the finals. Louie was also the Best Speaker of the competition. Throughout the weekend, the debaters clashed over key issues such as bonus cultures in work, private health insurance strategies, US strategy in the Middle East and more.

EPAS Team Comment

Well done to Louie! Engaging in these kinds of debates in a reasoned, measured and rational way is a great democratic skill.
