Language Lunches

Junior Ambassadors have organised a series of Language Lunches to celebrate ‘Languages Week Scotland’.

Punjabi

The first in our series: one of our pupils led an introductory lesson on Punjabi for staff and other pupils.

Mandarin

The next lesson in our fantastic series of language lunches was a Mandarin lesson led by a senior pupil! Pupils and staff attended and engaged in learning greetings, basic conversation and numbers in Mandarin. The PowerPoint will be made available for staff to look back on in the future.

Kurdish Hawrami and Kurmangi

The third pupil-led language lunch this year! Pupils delivered a lesson on Kurdish Hawrami and Kurmangi to staff and pupils who enjoyed learning about other languages and cultures. The girls explained links between Hawrami and Kurmangi and showed great leadership skills in delivering the languages!

Polish

Another addition to the Language Lunches! An introduction to Polish by a senior pupil who delivered it to pupils and staff over lunch time.
A great lesson delivered so well!

EPAS Team Comment

We love to see students taking on leadership roles like this. Having students share what they know and teach others gives them agency and so prepares them to participate in democratic society. It also recognises the value of people’s different cultures, languages and heritage. We’re excited to see what other languages are you planning to cover.
