On Monday, 10 February 2025, junior ambassadors from USP College attended a college trip to Tate Modern in Bankside, London. The trip was organised by senior ambassador Darren Cogavin for one of the college’s three annual Student CPD days, so that junior ambassadors and other students could discover and explore how artists have responded to political and social issues.

The theme of the trip was art and activism. Students explored how art can be a powerful tool for social change, amplifying voices of resistance and promoting critical dialogue. They viewed the work of several artists, including Andre Fougeron, Olafur Ellasson, John Heartfield, Judi Werthein, Emory Douglas, the Guerilla Girls, Margaret Harrison and others.

USP College holds three Student CPD days every year. The EPAS team at USP College has organised and attended several trips for these days, for example trips to Europe House and the Karl Marx Library in 2024. In previous years, the team met with former MEPs such as Glyn Ford and attended the annual Euroscola event to take part in a series of discussions and debates with students and junior ambassadors from other schools and colleges across Europe.
The next Student CPD day of 2025 will be held in April. Junior ambassadors are already discussing ideas for potential trips which could to be organised for the day and are open to suggestions from other USP College students through DMs on our Instagram page! https://www.instagram.com/epas_at_usp/
