Govan High Pupil Council Elections for year groups S1-5 took place this afternoon. Pupils elected one representative from their year group, and learned about the voting and counting processes.

S6 have already voted for their school captains who will represent the year group on the pupil council going forward.

Great to see pupils being introduced to the democratic process in this way. We can see that you’ve recreated the voting experience very well, with real voting booths, slips and boxes.
Have you got any feedback from pupils on how they found it? Has it made them more or less likely to vote in local and national elections? This could be an interesting project for your Junior Ambassadors: researching attitudes to democratic participation in your school – maybe even coming up with some suggestions to improve it.
