On Wednesday 20th November, three of Junior Ambassadors from Carmel College – Michel Hachem, Finley Crookes and Alex Thompson – represented the college in a debating competition at Bolton School.

This competition was the first round of the English Speaking Union’s Schools’ Mace competition, one of the most prestigious debating competitions in the UK. Competing against schools and colleges from across north west England, Michel, Fin and Alex, did an excellent job debating issues on the use of the ‘Green Belt’ for housing developments. On the night, they successfully won their debate, and they now move on to the second round of the competition.
