Junior Ambassadors Gain Firsthand Experience at Labour Party Conference

This week, three of our Junior Ambassadors at Carmel College had the exciting opportunity to attend the Labour Party Conference in Liverpool, immersing themselves in the heart of British political debate and decision-making.

During the event, students engaged directly with key political figures and witnessed major speeches, including Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s address on Tuesday. Two of our students, Michel Hachem and Alex Thompson, were even interviewed by the BBC, where they shared their insights and reactions to the Prime Minister’s speech.

Fellow student Gabriel Yates also made the most of the experience, meeting prominent politicians such as former MP and current Spectator editor Michael Gove, as well as Labour MPs Lucy Powell and Lisa Nandy.

This unique opportunity gave our students a deeper understanding of contemporary politics and the workings of party conferences, enriching their studies and sparking thoughtful discussion back in the classroom.
