European Youth Parliament
On Wednesday, February 28th, eight Junior Ambassadors from Carmel College rocked the regional finals of the European Youth Parliament in Liverpool. They debated hot topics like antisocial behavior, climate change, and the cost of living crisis. Our students shone brightly, earning high praise from the judges. Keep it up!

Europe House visit
On December 4th, Notting Hill and Ealing High School’s EU Ambassador Club visited Europe House in Westminster. They explored EU history, structures, and values, including Brexit’s impact. Engaging activities made learning fun and interactive. Students represented political groups, tackled diverse viewpoints, and presented proposals on key issues. Book your visit now!

International Mother Languages Day Celebration
Students at Mercy College, Belfast, had a blast on International Mother Languages Day! They kicked off with a fun “Guess the Language” quiz, enjoyed an international lunch, and got creative with crafts. The main corridor featured a display of language facts. Check out their activities on Facebook!

Weekly Voting Board
We’ve set up a weekly election for our students at Mercy! Our EPAS Junior Ambassadors researched elections and made a cool display in our Politics classroom. We started with fun topics like “cats vs. dogs” and “Christmas trees in December,” but now we’re tackling current European issues. Our Junior Ambassadors plan, count, and display everything!

Lux Film Event & Christmas film screening
We hosted two awesome film screenings! In December, 15 Year 7 students enjoyed the French version of “Ratatouille.” Later, 10 Junior Ambassadors attended the Lux Film Screening of “20,000 Species of Bees.” Both events were a hit, and everyone had a fantastic time. International Mother Tongue Day
EPAS Junior Ambassadors at Devonport High School for Girls made a cool video where students spoke in their European mother tongues. Leonie Freeden, a Cherwell School student, shares her inspiring journey as a Junior Ambassador. Her trips to Strasbourg were eye-opening, sparking a passion for political change. Hosting the Ambassador Schools Certification Ceremony
On December 5th, Instituto Español Vicente Cañada Blanch (IEVCB) proudly hosted the European Parliament Ambassador Schools certification ceremony. They welcomed other Ambassador Schools and guest of honor MEP Thijs Reuten, who inspired students with insights on European democracy. Two Junior Ambassadors led the event, featuring speeches and a special piano rendition of “Ode to Joy.”

Holocaust Memorial Day Through Literature
Alice, a Junior Ambassador at Hele’s School, crafted an inspiring library display connecting Holocaust Memorial Day with literature on the Holocaust and other genocides. Hele’s School’s Junior Ambassadors whipped up a fun 30-minute quiz for tutees to tackle in teams, exploring Christmas traditions across Europe. Dive into the festive spirit and discover how different countries celebrate this magical season. It’s a great way to learn and have a blast together!

Christmas cards for refugees
Cecylia, one of Hele’s School’s Junior Ambassadors, started a heartwarming project in tutor groups. Students wrote thoughtful messages to refugees and asylum seekers, letting them know they’re in our thoughts. These messages were then sent to the Devon and Cornwall Refugee Centre. It’s a beautiful way to show kindness and support!

On December 6th, we celebrated our first-ever Carmel College Culture Day, highlighting our diverse community. Students led the event, with EPAS ambassadors and the student council collaborating. The vibe was fantastic, with many in traditional attire. We explored cultural foods, stories, and festivals, and enjoyed incredible dance performances and a fun quiz!

About 15 Cherwell students have crafted European-themed articles for the Cherwell Journal, our student-driven non-fiction hub. Without a physical school spot, this is our info point. Topics range from European politics and the EU to sustainability, post-Brexit economics, religious freedom, and sports as societal progress tools. Check it out!
