Peace through Languages

This year here at Prestwick Academy we celebrated European Day of Languages with a bang – our International Club – the Captains and Junior Ambassadors helped a lot on the day.

Inspirational quotes about the importance of languages were posted every day into school’s daily bulletin and face painting was done by International Captains during lunch time.

The teachers and pupils who speak other languages taught other pupils their language in class, we also had a chance to take some snaps with our portable International picture frame and dress up box.

The corridors were decorated by pupils advertising European Day of Languages this year focus being PEACE.

Junior ambassadors delivered a Kahoot to teach others about European Parliament and Democracy, they put together a help sheet in 4 languages to distribute to teachers to use in classes on the day and created a Quiz using recordings of all foreign languages we can speak in Prestwick, pupils had to guess the language though most of them could actually guess the person who was speaking.

Staff were treated to a croissant at break time and Library staff won the award for speaking various foreign languages during the day. We also had a few competitions and now have a logo for our International Club drawn by one of our S2 pupils.
