S3 soon to be S4 pupils of Prestwick Academy had a workshop delivered by Asher Jacobsberg on behalf of the European Parliament Liaison Office in the UK. We learned about what is Europe and European Union, we played Euro Bingo, discussed the work of the European Parliament and discussed main issues which are close to young people’s heart, particularly popular being Erasmus Plus and Youth Mobility. The session was engaging and informative thanks to the interactive presentation and lively discussions from Asher. The Junior Ambassador had a great afternoon!

“At the European parliament workshop I learned that not all European countries are in the EU, and some countries have applied, but it takes many years for everything to be approved. I also learned that even though the UK left the EU, they still retain a strong relationship with them. I enjoyed the bingo we played as it required us to talk to people we wouldn’t usually speak with. Overall I found the workshop very interesting.”
“I thought that the EU workshop was interesting and useful to apply for future problems. It put me and my peers in the shoes of MEP’s. Asher was a great speaker and was well prepared with tasks to keep me and my friends entertained and engaged; It was informative and fun. I learned so many things that made me think what I would do if I was in that position.”
“The EU workshop was great because there were many things to learn such as how it was founded, the EU goals, etc. I enjoyed the EU bingo activity not only because there was a prize at the end but also the fact that I get to know some fun facts at the same time such as the fact that Greece has more than 1,000 islands!”
“The EU workshop led by Asher was very insightful and useful for understanding how the EU works. We gained knowledge on different countries within the EU. I found out what MEPs are and what different parties are found in the European parliament. It also helped improving team-works skills during the activities we were doing in the workshop which I also thought were enjoyable. Asher led the workshop very well and made sure that everybody was engaged in the topic at the time. Overall I thought the EU workshop went very well and was helpful towards expanding my knowledge on the EU.”
