SHS Debating European Issues
EPAS students developed debates on a number of European Issues, they gave students a range of arguments and evidence to help them argue for and against. All KS3 Tutor groups had a session with EPAS students to do the debates. Each tutor group voted, each KS3 student had the chance to contribute to the debate

European games at the Christmas Fair
The Christmas Fair is an annual event at SHS, which raises funds for the Stroud Women’s Refuge. The EPAS Junior Ambassadors organised an EU guessing game where the answer to each question was an EU country, which students could then pin the colour of the question onto the corresponding country on the map. Showing a Film in French
The EPAS Junior Ambassadors chose to show Une Vie de Chat in French to help to educate younger students about European cultures. EPAS Team Comment Great stuff! We hope they enjoyed it? Was it targeted as those studying French, or was everyone able to come?

Info Point
The Junior Ambassadors have arranged information on the European Parliament to be shown on the information screens around the school on regular rotation. Lecture on 20th Century Hispanic Dictatorships
Dr Stephen Fay, who has lived and worked in Latin America and now teaches at the University of Surrey, spoke about the differing nature of the dictatorships of the 20th century and their relationship with the USA and former colonial powers. Students were able to ask and answer questions throughout and SHS students won three

Debating European Issues
We’ve been running debating sessions for years 7, 8 and 9 on a number of EU issues – such as should the UK adopt the Euro, and should the UK be allowed to participate in EU events? We heard some great ideas from the students and had a vote for each debate! Debate presentation Links

Euroscola
We spent a day in March debating at European Parliament on a number of issues such as the EU’s zero pollution ambition, gender equality and free speech. It was great to meet and speak in front of 800+ young people from across the EU, and get to see how European Parliament works. Links EPAS Team

Raising money for Stroud Women’s Refuge

Junior Ambassadors at Stroud High School created an awesome European Parliament display board! It’s open to everyone and aims to educate, spark questions, and raise political awareness.
