Model United Nations and Visit to European Central Bank

During the February holiday, 15 members of our Model United Nations Society, including five EPAS Junior Ambassadors, attended an international Model United Nations Conference in Bad Homburg, Germany. The conference was led by Secretaries General, Lara and Erica, and Wellington pupils also chaired the five committees.

Over two days of intense debate, our delegates worked together with other young people from Belgium, France, Germany and Spain. Our MUN members have worked hard since August to prepare for the conference and have benefited enormously from the opportunity for skills development.

Before the conference they improved their research skills and academic writing and during the conference their debating skills were put to the test and our Chairs developed leadership skills. Working in an international environment added to the challenge as our delegates learned to negotiate with young people from other countries.

There was also time to explore Bad Homburg and Frankfurt Old Town and to fit in a visit to the European Central Bank where we had an excellent guided tour followed by a game of Kahoot! This was an excellent opportunity for our Ambassadors to learn more about the financial management of the EU. In the evenings, everyone enjoyed the ice-breakers, quiz night and Delegates’ Ball.
