Senior Ambassador CPD 2024
Last week, we had an amazing training session for Senior Ambassadors at Europe House. We welcomed both new and returning Ambassadors from places like Alcester, Abingdon, Ayr, Belfast, Plymouth, Blackpool, Great Yarmouth, Manchester, Maldon, Seaford Head, and all over London. It was a fantastic gathering of passionate individuals!

German Exchange
In November and March, 37 Wellington students and their German partners joined a language and cultural exchange. UK students visited Germany for a week, and their German friends came to Scotland. The program included five days of workshops, sports, and team-building activities. Emilia’s report shares her exciting experience in the school magazine.

The EU and Negotiating our ongoing relationship
On April 30th, we welcomed Asher Jacobsberg from Europe House. He shared insights on the European Parliament’s structure and history, which was eye-opening for us. We played a fun bingo game to learn about EU countries and even participated in a debate, boosting our teamwork and public speaking skills!

LUX Youth Seminar in Brussels
Junior Ambassadors from Wellington School in Ayr, Scotland, recently joined peers from all 27 EU member states at the LUX Audience Award ceremony. It’s an amazing opportunity for these young leaders to connect and learn. Dive into their inspiring journey and see how they’re making a difference!

Languages at Work Event – GCHQ and Business Language Champions
Twelve Year 10 students learning French and German took part in the GCHQ challenge at the Royal School in Bath. They got to see languages in action and even enjoyed a taste of Arabic, Korean, and Mandarin. What an exciting opportunity to explore new languages and cultures!

Visit from our Conservative M.P.
Sir Gary Streeter, MP, visited Hele’s School in Plymouth for a lively Q&A with students from years 7 to 13. The students asked insightful questions on topics like the NHS, asylum seekers, defense spending, the Gaza conflict, and human rights. Check out the full discussion for more engaging insights!

Cultural Fair
Fantastic learning for democratic engagement! It’s awesome for students to chat with politicians, discover their motivations, and ask about issues that matter to them. The Ambassador Schools club set up a stall to share EU info and engage with students. Some club members even shared their culture at their own table.

European Youth Parliament
On Wednesday, February 28th, eight Junior Ambassadors from Carmel College rocked the regional finals of the European Youth Parliament in Liverpool. They debated hot topics like antisocial behavior, climate change, and the cost of living crisis. Our students shone brightly, earning high praise from the judges. Keep it up!

Lux Film Event & Christmas film screening
We hosted two awesome film screenings! In December, 15 Year 7 students enjoyed the French version of “Ratatouille.” Later, 10 Junior Ambassadors attended the Lux Film Screening of “20,000 Species of Bees.” Both events were a hit, and everyone had a fantastic time. Cultural Fortnight at Clyst Vale
Students at Clyst Vale Community College, a UNICEF Gold Rights Respecting School, are embracing respect and diversity during Cultural Fortnight. They’re exploring the 9 protected characteristics from the 2010 Equality Act, linked to trailblazers and UNCRC articles. Activities include assemblies, themed lessons, and global cuisine. Proudly, £150 was raised for UNICEF. Read more online!

Hosting the Ambassador Schools Certification Ceremony
On December 5th, Instituto Español Vicente Cañada Blanch (IEVCB) proudly hosted the European Parliament Ambassador Schools certification ceremony. They welcomed other Ambassador Schools and guest of honor MEP Thijs Reuten, who inspired students with insights on European democracy. Two Junior Ambassadors led the event, featuring speeches and a special piano rendition of “Ode to Joy.”

On November 10th, Year 10 students from Instituto Español Vicente Cañada Blanch had an exciting visit to Europe House. They learned about the European Parliament and other EU institutions. Holocaust Memorial Day Through Literature
Alice, a Junior Ambassador at Hele’s School, crafted an inspiring library display connecting Holocaust Memorial Day with literature on the Holocaust and other genocides. Her work beautifully highlights the power of books to educate and remember. Check out her amazing display and dive into the stories that keep history alive!

Carmel College Culture Day
On December 6th, we celebrated our first-ever Carmel College Culture Day, highlighting our diverse community. Students led the event, with EPAS ambassadors and the student council collaborating. The vibe was fantastic, with many in traditional attire. We explored cultural foods, stories, and festivals, and enjoyed incredible dance performances and a fun quiz!
