Christmas cards for refugees
Cecylia, one of Hele’s School’s Junior Ambassadors, started a heartwarming project in tutor groups. Students wrote thoughtful messages to refugees and asylum seekers, letting them know they’re in our thoughts. These messages were then sent to the Devon and Cornwall Refugee Centre. It’s a beautiful way to show kindness and support!

Remembrance Day Activities
To honor Remembrance Day, students aged 4-18 at Manchester Hospital School crafted tissue paper poppies. Older students joined the National Literacy Trust’s Remembrance Live assembly, diving into the day’s history. They explored various remembrance methods, including how France and Germany commemorate the end of WW1 and WW2 differently.

Hele’s School Debating course
Hele’s School in Plymouth hosted a six-week debating course. Sixth form Junior Ambassadors guided KS3 students, ending with a lively debate on ‘This House would abolish the monarchy.’ The proposition team came out on top. Check out the exciting details and see how the debate unfolded!

Right before Christmas, Instituto Español Vicente Cañada Blanch hosted an awesome day of learning and celebration with Junior Ambassadors from The Cherwell School and Emerson Park Academy. Thijs Reuten, an MEP, joined as a special guest, inspiring students to stay engaged and make a difference in the world.

Carmel College Culture Day
On December 6th, we celebrated our first-ever Carmel College Culture Day, highlighting our diverse community. Students led the event, with EPAS ambassadors and the student council collaborating. The vibe was fantastic, with many in traditional attire. We explored cultural foods, stories, and festivals, and enjoyed incredible dance performances and a fun quiz!

Visit to Strasbourg, European Parliament, Euroscola
On December 12th, three of Carmel’s lower sixth students visited the European Parliament in Strasbourg through the EPAS enrichment program. Grace, Crina, and Dhenisha joined EuroScola, meeting politicians and activists. They focused on human rights and were praised for their contributions. They truly shone as Junior Ambassadors!

Virtual Euroscola 2023
Thirty Year 12 students from The Cherwell School joined the Euroscola conference on human rights and law. Two students asked live questions, and one student’s proposal made the top four. Amber noted the contrast in concerns between Eastern and Western students, highlighting the importance of a global perspective on issues.

Cherwell Journal
About 15 Cherwell students have crafted European-themed articles for the Cherwell Journal, our student-driven non-fiction hub. Without a physical school spot, this is our info point. Topics range from European politics and the EU to sustainability, post-Brexit economics, religious freedom, and sports as societal progress tools. Check it out!

Europe Quiz
Year 12 students at The Cherwell School eagerly joined a Europe Quiz, forming teams of six with new friends. They earned stars through Europe-themed rounds, creating a European flag. Cherwell at Euroscola 2023
Twenty students and two teachers joined the Euroscola conference on November 24, 2023, diving into cyber security and EU democracy. They tackled projects, connected with peers from 26 countries, and explored five languages. Traveling sustainably, they enjoyed cultural activities and honed skills like communication and leadership. Virtual workshop with DG Translation and Interpretation
Our Year 13 language students in French, Spanish, and German joined a virtual workshop with DG-Translation. We explored the vital role of languages in a multilingual democracy and the work of interpreters and translators. Translating documents ourselves gave us a cool glimpse into the life of EU linguists.

Former MEP awards Ambassadors in Devon
Caroline Voaden, ex-MEP for South West England and Gibraltar, visited Queen Elizabeth School in Crediton, Devon. Ambassador Schools accreditation in the North West
Loreto High School, an Ambassador School for three years, hosted the European Parliament Ambassador Schools accreditation event in the North West of England. Inspiring speeches by former MEP Julie Ward and Manchester’s Lord Mayor, Yasmine Dar, motivated Junior Ambassadors to broaden their horizons and advocate for their passions. Read more here: [link].
