SHS Debating European Issues
EPAS students developed debates on a number of European Issues, they gave students a range of arguments and evidence to help them argue for and against. Carmel Students Shine At The Ethics Cup
Our junior ambassadors had a fantastic day at the annual Ethics Cup,hosted by the University of Liverpool. Competing against schools across the region, they debated challenging ethical issues with confidence, insight, and teamwork. School Trip to Euroscola in Strasbourg with Belfast Boys Model School
Mercy College Belfast and Belfast Boys Model School had an amazing time at the Euroscola event in Strasbourg. European Parliament educational session at NHEHS
We were super excited to have Asher from Europe House visit our school for a workshop on European institutions and democracy. Students got to simulate voting in the European Parliament, experiencing the legislative process firsthand. Model United Nations
Wellington School Junior Ambassadors hosted a Model UN for Primary 7, focusing on Human Rights and Child Labour. Delegates worked in pairs or threes, representing 12 countries linked to the EU. The JAs led the event, from opening to closing, rewarding top delegations. Participants loved it, gaining skills and eager for more!

The EU and Negotiating our ongoing relationship
On April 30th, we welcomed Asher Jacobsberg from Europe House. He shared insights on the European Parliament’s structure and history, which was eye-opening for us. We played a fun bingo game to learn about EU countries and even participated in a debate, boosting our teamwork and public speaking skills!

Euroscola event: Rights of Women
We joined a live event on women’s rights in Europe, chatting with MEPs and other EU schools. We asked about the gender pay gap and what the EP is doing about it. We learned about legislation, the 14% pay gap, and the push for equal pay in similar jobs.

Visit from our Conservative M.P.
Sir Gary Streeter, MP, visited Hele’s School in Plymouth for a lively Q&A with students from years 7 to 13. European Youth Parliament
On Wednesday, February 28th, eight Junior Ambassadors from Carmel College rocked the regional finals of the European Youth Parliament in Liverpool. They debated hot topics like antisocial behavior, climate change, and the cost of living crisis. Our students shone brightly, earning high praise from the judges. Keep it up!
